You can now choose the CIMA Finance Leadership Program (FLP) which is a new method of study and assessment to earn the CIMA Professional Qualification, the CGMA and become ACMA cum CGMA or FCMA designation holder. FLP is short for Finance Leadership Program. CGMA stands for Chartered Global Management Accountant whilst ACMA is an abbreviation for Associate Chartered Management Accountant.

CIMA professional qualification has 3 levels and therefore 3-part qualifications. Part qualifications are the qualifications you earn after completing each level along the journey of attaining the CGMA designation. Additionally these part qualifications are recognised by SAQA. Therefore there is CIMA Operational level (NQF 6), CIMA Management level (NQF 7) and CIMA Strategic level (NQF8). In other words its the CIMA Diploma in Management Accounting (NQF6), CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting (NQF7) and ACMA/CGMA (NQF8). Each CIMA level has three subject areas (E, F, P). There are two routes or methods of study and assessment towards attaining the CIMA Professional Qualification that a CIMA student can choose from. These two routes are the traditional (/old) route which is the Objective Tests route and the new method which is the CIMA FLP.
Under the CIMA Objective Tests method of study and assessment to attain the CIMA Professional Qualification, each CIMA subject area (E, F, P) also forms an Objective Test (OT) Exam. Therefore unlike under the CIMA FLP route, under the Objective Tests route, each CIMA level has 4 exams.
Hence under the Objective Tests route, the CIMA Operational level is made up of E1, F1, P1 & Operational Case Study exams. Equally the CIMA Management level is made up of E2, F2, P2 & Management Case Study exams. Likewise the CIMA Strategic level is made up of the E3, F3, P3 & Strategic Case Study exams.
The three subject areas combined together form the Case Study Exam – this case study exam is the same whether under the CIMA FLP or the Objective Tests method of study & assessment. OT exams can be sat in any order but you may only sit for the case study exam after passing all the 3 OT (E, F, P) exams of that level.
If you opt for the CIMA Finance Leadership Programme (CIMA FLP) then you will not sit for the OT exams. Instead you will continuously take self assessment questions within the FLP platform after each topic/ competency as you study the 3 subject areas. The CIMA FLP platform is a digital CIMA learning platform which contains all the study resources for the entire CIMA syllabus. Topic proficiency of the subject areas is regularly assessed via multiple-choice questions that are embedded into the CIMA FLP online learning platform.
You still study for the same CIMA Professional Qualification syllabus and subject areas as the Objective tests study route. However under the CGMA FLP you will only take the Case Study Exams. Therefore one only needs to take 3 exams under the CIMA FLP to complete the CIMA professional qualification from operational level to strategic level.
CIMA Finance Leadership Program (FLP) is the new self-directed, digital option for CIMA students to complete the CIMA Professional Qualification and earn the ACMA/ CGMA designations. The FLP program includes all the learning and resources you require to complete the CIMA professional qualification. All three levels (operational, management and strategic) of the CGMA FLP culminate with a Case Study Exam. The exam tests your mastery of the concepts learnt in E, F and P and your ability to apply your knowledge and skills in real-world business situations.
Instead of the OT exams taken via Pearson VUE, either at testing centres or online, the CGMA FLP seamlessly blends learning and assessments. This is aimed at ensuring that you understand key topics and can apply new skills before you move on to more advanced business concepts.

The CIMA FLP program is subscription based and its subscription runs from the time of purchase. There are 3 subscriptions one can choose from and purchase. CIMA CGMA FLP students can purchase a one-year subscription, a two-year subscription and a 3-year subscription. The subscription will expire 1/2/3 years from the date of purchase depending on the option you would have purchased.
All the subscriptions include all the CIMA fees for that period of purchase and the Case Study Exams Fees. The professional body is currently offering a free resit of each level’s case study exam. This means that at the present moment the subscription includes exam fees for 2 attempts of each level’s case study exam i.e., two exam tokens per level. Any unused tokens per level will expire at the expiry of the subscription or when one proceeds to the next level.
This also means that any exams should be sat before the expiry of the subscription and its possible for example to sit for the operational, management and Strategic level under any of the subscriptions but remember you may only sit for any case study exam after completing all the subject/ topic areas assessments and you may only sit for e.g., the Management Case Study Exam after passing the Operational Case Study Exam.
